Coated Paper

Coating is achieved by pouring a liquid film onto the paper surface and then drying it. The cost of coating is relatively low; however, it demands high-quality base paper, as ordinary paper cannot be effectively coated. The production process involves applying this liquid film, which generally provides a waterproof effect. A prime example of its application is in Paper Cups.

Coated paper is commonly used in packaging, particularly for products requiring water resistance. For instance, single-sided PE-coated Paper Rolls are often used as raw materials for corporate promotional paper cups. The internal waterproofing is achieved through the coated layer, allowing the cups to hold water for extended periods without leaking or seeping. This ensures the stiffness of the paper cup wall. The coating material is typicallypolyethylene (PE).

Laminated Paper

Lamination refers to the process of applying a transparent plastic film—usually made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate)—onto the surface of printed materials through hot pressing. The laminated film is thin, offers excellent light transmission, and significantly extends the storage life of printed items. While it has lower requirements for the type of paper used, the overall cost is relatively higher.

Once lamination is applied, the film cannot be peeled off easily if it fails. It is typically used for one-time molding in printing applications, covering the top of the ink layer to prevent dirt and damage. Common uses include business cards, folders, brochures, album covers, and product packaging surfaces.

Laminated films are available in two finishes: glossy and matte. Lamination enhances the durability of printed materials by providing protection against moisture, water, wear, and folding. It not only prolongs the lifespan of the printed matter but also improves user experience and elevates the perceived quality of the product.
