1. Basis Weight Measurement

Steps:
1.Cut a standard-size sample (take a piece of A4 paper with a cutter to cut into a circle) using a paper cutter or die-cutting equipment.
2.Use a high-precision digital scale to weigh the sample,repeat the scale 3 times,take the average value
3.Convert the sample weight to grams per square meter (gsm):
Basis Weight(gsm)=Sample Weight(grams)÷Sample Area(m2)
Advantages: Simple method, suitable for quick checks.
Note: Ensure clean edges and avoid contamination during measurement.

2. Separation Method

For PE-coated paper, you can also measure by separating the paper base and the PE coating:
1.Soak the sample in warm water and gently scrape off the PE coating to separate it from the paper.
2.Weigh the paper base and PE coating separately.
3.Calculate the total weight:
Total Weight=Paper Base Weight+Coating Weight 

Advantages: Allows differentiation of Paper And Coating weights, useful for analyzing material composition.
Note: Handle with care to avoid damaging the paper during separation.

3. Whole-Sheet Weighing Method

Steps:
1.Take a certain number of PE-coated paper sheets (e.g., 10 sheets) with uniform size.
2.Weigh the total weight, then divide by the number of sheets and the area of a single sheet to calculate the weight per square meter.
Advantages: Suitable for bulk measurement, improves efficiency.
Note: Ensure sheets are stacked evenly to avoid weighing errors.
